Lenco J-54

The J-54 - in Switzerland also promoted as ‚Lenco-Junior‘ - was Lenco’s first portable 3-speed record player. It has an idler wheel with 60 mm ø - a similar idler wheel was also used in the J-55, B 20-2 and B 30 models. The bakelite chassis was manufactured by Mafix in Obergerlafingen, Switzerland - a company that still exists.

The motor and suspension system Lenco used at the beginning was different. Between the motor poulley and the idler wheel was a construction with 3 different poullies. The transmission from the motor to the 3 poullies was made with a short belt. The 3 poullies could be rotated with a knob under the platter. There was no speed control at the beginning - that came with the second edition, still named as J-54.

The tone arm was equipped with a Lenco branded Ronette TO-284-OV mono cartridge. In spring 1954 Ex Libris sold it for 59 CHF.
