F 50-8 - Evolution in 4 steps - the closer look into the facts

Around 1957 the third version (Mk III) came with a better tone arm and with a removable head shell. Stereo ready was introduced and still with the auto stop mechanism. From this version was the B 50-16 Mk I derived and both coexisted at the same time* on the market.

The fourth version (Mk IV) - released also in 1957 - got a knob for ON / PLAY and a simple lift mechanic and the auto stop mechanism is gone. During 1958 the Mk IV was upgraded to Stereo using a 3-pin bakelite headshell.
