The labor shortage in Switzerland led to a search for a solution abroad. They found what they were looking for in Osimo (Italy, Province of Ancona), 800 km away from Burgdorf. There, well-trained people were found in a recently closed harmonica factory. This also had tax advantages for the export to the rest of the European countries. In December 1961 Lenco Italiana S. p. A. was founded. They started with 10 people and - at that time - mainly producing motors.

The need for more space was still present and in 1963 Lenco started to build the extension of the factory in Oberburg with an additional building. In late autumn 1964 that construction was finished.
