Lenco C 2003 - the unknown masterpiece

Originally designed by M&E Design (Muchenberger und Eichenberger) in 1974 for Lenco, it took Lenco 2 years from the design, development to serial production. Unknown as a tape deck manufacturer in the middle of the seventies, Lenco had a difficult time to even become a competitor on the market. There were only a handful of manufacturers who had a 3-head dual capstan tape drive at that time ! Designed as a top loader the market was looking for front loaders when it was introduced on December 6th 1976 at a press conference!

With the C 2003 Lenco also released the M 2003* microphone. It was also intended to be used with the Lenco C 1102 Tape Deck.

I personally had serviced 50 to 60 units from 1979 to 1983, many of them were lab samples and therefore in really bad conditions. Most of the users were living around Burgdorf and must have bought them at the ramp sale Lenco held at that time.
